Leaving school
For young people with disability, and their families, who are planning what comes after school.
Start before school ends
Think about what you want to do after school while you are still there. Talk about your goals for work, study and spare time at your next NDIS plan meeting.
The NDIS can help young participants aged 14 to 24 get ready for work. This can include extra work experience, a part-time job outside school hours, or the move from school to work or study. It does not pay for things your school already provides.
What you can look for
- Day programs and community activities. Groups, outings, sport, art and classes, with support if you need it.
- Help finding work. Building skills for work, finding a job and settling in.
- Life skills. Things like catching the bus, cooking and managing money.
What your plan pays for depends on your goals and your plan. Ask your planner, local area coordinator or support coordinator if you are not sure.
